I had trouble with installing Windows XP on a Dell 1525 notebook. My problem was that drivers for this laptop version are missing from the official Dell website.
I found a great resource over at latptop-drivers.com with a list of the drivers you need. However you have to search through the comments for correct links to all the resources.
Here’s a lightweight list of what you need to get your Dell 1525 laptop up to speed with Windows XP drivers.
If you need SATA drivers for your laptop and don’t have a floppy drisk controller attached you can use this method of binding the drivers straight into the Windows XP install disk.
- SATA driver for Dell 1525
- nLite - software you need in order to bind the SATA drivers straight into the Windows Install disk
NOTES:
Dell has poor support for Windows XP drivers on the 1525 laptop but most of the 1520 drivers work and some of the Windows Vista drivers also work for the XP version.
This page isn’t supposed to be a constantly updated resource for Dell drivers. For this please check the Dell Support website.
I don’t mean to steal traffic from laptop-drivers.com, however these drivers need be advertised more. I had a difficult time tracking them down.
